A1ways a Woman: americans can have a cartoon w/ japanese art, but it's still not anime cuz it's not japanese
SmUrFySail0r: But does that mean you couldn't make an animé yourself simply on the grounds that you aren't Japanese?

SmUrFySail0r: So, if I draw the Sailor Scouts myself, it would not be animé because I am not Japanese?

SmUrFySail0r: now there are many different styles one can use in making animation, correct?

SmUrFySail0r: Anyone can make an animation in the style of their choosing, correct?

SmUrFySail0r: Now yes, animé style animation originated in Japan
A1ways a Woman: i'm just saying cartoons made in japan are anime.

A1ways a Woman: the animes can be american looking, but still be anime
A1ways a Woman: american cartoons can look like anime, but still be american cartoons

They make a new series in the style very similar to that of animé.  Why should it not be called animé style animation?

A1ways a Woman: but the subject of anime is dif. than food because when ppl say anime, they mean JAPANESE CARTOONS.

SmUrFySail0r: so that makes that episode of PPG an animé from what you are saying

SmUrFySail0r: Its not like Japanese have to be one religion, Germans have to be a certain religion, Canadians have to be one religion

SmUrFySail0r: but that doesn't mean that all Japanese people are either Shinto or Buddhists

A1ways a Woman: but since anime has become popular and widespread thru america, the ppl thought they should separate japanese cartoons from american ones by calling japanese ones anime.
A1ways a Woman: since most anime is drasticly (sp?) different from american ones

A1ways a Woman: most are adult and shoudln't be considered cartoons, because the typical cartoon (in americans' eyes) is for children, whereas anime is not always.
