Virtual Reality- I just love virtual reality.  And it is no less real than reality except for the fact that it is virtual.  Neopets is a whole nother world in virtual reality.  It can be a fun place to get away from your offline life and pretend you are in a totally different world, and totally virtual.  You even get to make your own neohome and choose where you want to have it located.  You get to customize your neohome with all kinds of goodies.  You can put furniture in your rooms and plants in your neogarden, you can even choose what kind of rooms you have in your neohome ranging from grass to stone to gold and much more.  They also have such features as security, insurance, lighting, and more.  Its your very own virtual home where you and your neopet(s) can live.

Being a virtual world, neopets has added magic to make it more fun and enjoyable.  Random events (which can be good or bad) can get you new items, maybe have a Neopian steal some points or blow up an object in your inventory into a pile of sludge or even find some neopints on the floor.  Magical Faeries can bless your pet and give your pet new special abilities.  You can win faeries from the tombola, win them from scorchy slots, or buy them in shops or auctions.  I think Balthazar is the one who captures the faeries and puts them in the jar so that you can relaese them.

Instead of having to go to work to earn money, you can play games and win neopoints (which is neopets currency)  So actually I guess playing the games would be the work.  Now what you do with the neopoints you earn from your work at playing the games is up to you.  You can invest neopoints in a shop (increasing shop size and buying items for it), deposit them in a neopets bank account (you have to collect interest daily, it will not cumulate by itself), invest them in the neopets stockmarket (which is now a lot riskier than it used to be) or you can buy stuff to give to your  neopet to eat or to read or to play with.

You can also get to meet other people at Neopets, it is a virtual community of people.  You can meet people via neomail, in the neochat, through your guild, and other ways.  And these people you meet you can choose to have as your neofriends if you like.

Such an exciting, intriguing world that its no wonder why so many people make Neopets such a big part of their life.  There is so much to do here.  So many games and competitions and contests and activities to do.  Don't forget to take care of your Neopets.  Unfortunately Neopets won't just help themselves to food in your inventory (so you can't just leave food for them to eat when they should get hungry).  You have to feed them every so often before they start dying of hunger.  You can get free food from the soup kitchen (depending on how many NPs you have in your possession and bank account) or get free omelette in the desert.  You can  buy expensive food, but why bother throwing points away like that because food is food regardless of the price (unless you want to try for an award or something for eating expensive food which is not a good idea unless you are filthy rich)  You also get to play with your neopets with toys and plushies, and can read them books.

Chances are that living in this virtual world is going to be more desirable to that of the world offline.  That is part of what makes Neopets such an addictive website.

I am not saying I don't enjoy my offline life because that is totally not true.  I have friends that I enjoy being with in person where I can actually see the person face to face.  I know some cool places to hang out at too.  Well, anyways, what I am saying is that even when you do enjoy your offlline life (for the most part) it can still be very fun and addictive to go to a website like Neopets.  Its as though you are living in 2 totally different worlds which is exciting and in a way you are.

Neopets has been a big part of my life for over 13 months now.  It is interesting to see how things change over time.  How they have gotten rid of some games such as alien invasion, earth faerie aces, whatever name they had for tetris, chia bingo, neo DJ, alpine challenge, kiko match, and some others and have replaced them with new games, some of which are simialar to games they have taken off such as Kiko Match II and Math Nightmare (a little like alien invasion only a different theme plus a choic of math problems)  How now it seems that I can load all of the flash games in either internet explorer or in netscape and have the game work.  (as opposed to how when I first joined some of the games would only load correctly in one browser and sometimes not in either)  I like how they have made that improvement.

Not too long ago they reset all of the scores for the flash games and other non-cumulative games due to some problems they had been having and thus now all of the flash games were now on a new scoring system using the new flash 6 version.  It is nice how you can know for sure that the game is loading because it says the progress as it loads.  Some disadvantages (that weren't in the old versions of the games) are that you can't load a game on one account and send score to a different account.  Anoter is that not only do you not get neopoints after the 3rd send in a day but it now also will not even allow you to post it for a high score.  I found this out the hard way.

After the resetting of scores now i had to go play the games again to get scores which was good and bad at the same time.  Good in that I was able to get a tug-o-war trophy while the scores were still kinda low and bad in that some of my scores I couldn't seem to reachieve as high as my scores previously.

I used to be able to buy stock in the stockmarket for 6NP a share and they would never go below that so i would never lose from it which I liked but now they changed it so you can't purchase stocks less than 15NP a share and now stocks can go all the way to zero.

The world keeps changing, and so does the virtual world of neopets.

I have come a long way in my quest to be my best at Neopets.  I earned shitloads of trophies plus an awesome shop, a smurfy guild, a dazzling faerie gallery estimated value in the mega millions, plus some kick ass powerful Neopets.

They never had a picture for the powerpuff trophy and 2 days after I had earned the trophy they took the trophy away from everyone who had earned trophies from that game.  So counting the powerpuff trophy that gives me a total of 15 trophies.  This is quite an accomplishment being as hard as it is to get trophies at neopets.

Over the past 13 or so months I have enjoyed Neopets a lot.  No big problems with anything or anyone at Neopets.

If you ever got a chance to get to know me at neopets then you would probably know that I am a really nice person.  I never once refused an invitation to be neofriends with someone and unless someone neomailed me straight out something nasty I would almost always reply if a reply was expected.  And being number one on list at neopets can get you lots of neomails and people wanting to be your neofriend, etc.  It also brought in lots of business to my shop.  That is one of the reasons I would normally charge more than the lowest price on the shop wizard.  Thus I could make bigger profit too.

The staff of Neopets have never personally sent me a neomail or emailed me.

A lonnnnng time ago back in the day of my fame for bumper cars the staff deleted my score for just the bumper cars game either once or twice (when not resetting the whole board)  I kind of took that personally and also as a message that the staff might not really like me.  I filled out their abuse form about this and they stopped doing that (of course not replying).  On Bumper Cars any score 10000 or more will count as score of 10000 exactly and is an invalid score and will not allow you to post it or get neopoints for it.  When the staff deleted my score of 9969 points for bumper cars I was never able to get that high again without going over the 10000 invalid score.  It probably appeared strange to people looking at the high score list as to why my highest score on the game would have gone down....

It took the Neopets Staff quite some time before they figured out exactly how I was able to get such a high score.  And this is the first time I am actually publishing how I was able to get such a high score on the game.

Some car combinations would allow you to send score in a multi-player game.  (not all would send score)   The first combination I found out was a 3 player game against one computer opponent where I would be the blue car against the yellow car.  Once I destroyed the yellow car I could then smash up the other cars till they was done without them getting me.  This would get me 3 or 4 thousand some points.  When I was about to get killed myself I would cllick the little S button to send score.  (*The S Button is now disabled in multiplayer game ever since the staff figured it out so it won't work now)

Strange, i see people on the high score list with over 9000 points.  Surely they can't be doing it with this combination.  Finally I figure it out.  A 4 player game, but not with just any car.  The car of choice here would be the yellow car against the others if you wanted the score to count.  What was difficult here was knowing when to send score as no where did it display my score in a multi-player game.  At first i just kept going and going for a few hours only to find that going 10000 points or more would be invalid score and worth no neopoints.  The highest possible valid score being 9999 points which was my goal.  I had to make a strategy that would give me a rough idea of how many points I was at.  I would hit the cars the same way (since hitting them different ways is worth different amounts of points) each round and everytime I sent in my score I would record what round I had made it to and how many points it was worth.  (It would show me my score when I clicked to send in the score)

I played bumper cars a lot back then.  It took me about an hour to get 9969 points but it was worth almost 5000NP and they did not have the 1000NP cutoff like they do today so I would actually get the whole amount I earned.  5000NP in an hour isn't bad.  Plus the daily 750NP for the months I was number one on the list plus business boomed in my shop.

And then one day my score for bumper cars was gone.  This time they hadn't just deleted my score, but had deleted everyones score for that game.  I soon found out why.  A new version of Bumper Cars.  And guess what.  This version they had disabled the S button for all multi-player games.  Thus my fame for that game was now over forever.

No more daily 750NP,  the hidden tower was now selling more items than me.  And  the neomails became much more scarce than before.

It was hard to return to this state after the fame.  I knew how high the scores are on the high score tables at neopets and I didn't know for sure whether I would ever be able to do it again.

It was quite some time before I would get in trophy range on a flash game again.

In the meantime I spent time doing other things such as restock my shop, organize things, work on other games to see if somehow I might get high enough a score to rank on them.  At some point during this period my interest got sparked at the referral program to refer myself to neopets.  Now if you have been to my website prior to the publishing of this article you know that I strongly endorsed Neopets.  I put some banner ads on some of my pages and really had them stand out on my main links page with 2 links.  And if you knew me at grep* before I was banished from there you know that I strongly advocated Neopets there too by putting links in my posts and even in my siggy.  I would even try to get referrals while talking to people on instant messenger.  If they asked what I was doing I might say something like I am at Neopets and if they hadn't been there before I'd give them the referral link.

And you know what?  As much as I tried to get referrals I don't think I even had 15 unique referrals.  I have tried very hard and have not gotten too much (to the value I place on my efforts) so I get the idea to refer myself to Neopets.  i mean I already have the other clefairymon account I had made the same day as my smurfysailor account since I had had trouble logging in at the time because I wasn't accepting their cookies.  I already have more than 1 account.  I look at the chart of referral prizes.  I check out my number of referrals.  I check out the high score table for referrals.  I am shocked at how many referrals the top referers have.  Hopw in the hell could they have so many referrals?  Could I be doing something wrong?  I have tried my best and have not even a percent of how many referrals they have.  Then it occurs to me.  They probably referred themselves to neopets.  I mean how else in hell would you have almost 8000 referrals?

 I mean that is just plain rediculous.  I mean do you know 8000 people in your life?  Let alone to refer them all to neopets?  Reality check here.  If I had gotten my entire high school to let me refer them to neopets that wouldn't even be 1000.  Just to put this in perspective.  I click to see their userlookup.  Wow! What a big shop they have.  They are not frozen.  (they still aren't)  I continue to look down the list of top referrers.  Quite honestly I think quite a lot of people have multiple accounts at Neopets.  Maybe to store personal items, perhaps to move some items over into a gallery.  So that on their main account they could sell items and then put the items they don't want to sell into their gallery and charge 100K+ for everything making it unbuyable.  Like what I did with my clefairyfaerie account.  I transferred faerie items to that account and put em in my shop there.  I wanted everything in my main shop to be buyable.  Some of the items were worth over 100K so i was glad to move them to another account,  Plus I hoped it would give me more security in case something were to ever happen to my smurfysailor account such as getting hacked or something.  I certainly didn't expect on it getting frozen.

So anyways I think I was getting a little ahead of myself there.  So anyways I had been to other shops and saw links to their galleries on other accounts.

I figure, what the hell, I might as well do it too.  No one else seems to be having any problems with getting frozen or anything by referring themselves.  Since Clefairy/Phantom Haunter is married to Nurse Joy I decide to make an account for her.  Then I decide to make one for Meowth.  It takes a little while before i start making accounts on a daily basis of coourse through the referral program.  At 10 referrals gives me a really nice paint brush.  I look again at the prize table.  After 10 referrals what is with these huge gaps between prizes?

The codestone hoard sounds good, and super rare item, but soooo many referrals to get to those.  And would the super rare item really be worth it?  I mean how super rare are we talking here?  Are we talking an item from the hidden tower here or is it gonna be some cheap crap?  I just don't know if it would be worth it.  All those referrals just to find out.  And what is with the prize after that?  75 referrals is the supre rare item.  The next prize is awarded at 100 referrals and is a new battledome opponent.  25 referrals for a battledome opponent?  What the fuck is that?  What is that worth to me?  Um, could the answer be um oh here it is, NOTHING?
You know what?  I think I'll just refer myself using other accounts so I can get some more nice paintbrushes.  *_*

I gave the accounts personality too.  They joined my guild since well, that is probably what a lot of other guilds do too who have a lot of members.  Some of the accounts I actually used too.  It was a lot of effort but I did more than one multiplayer competition in a month  (geos armada and kacheekers)  on several accounts.  It took a lot of extra effort to login to all those accounts and play people.  It paid out ok but it sure wasn't the best way to get points.

Before they reset all the scores I had made my clefairymon account into a show off account having all the games I played on that account having me as grand master and all champion trophies too. (cheat and go! go! go!)  I could tell which games I could get grang masster from looking at my smurfysailor highs scores list.

I took a great pride in these accounts.  Of course my biggest pride was my main account and later on also to include my clefairy faerie gallery.

I had no big problems with referring myself.  I could only seem to get one referral to count each time I came online though.

I managed to get 2 more paint brushes.  One of which wasn't worth hardly anyhing and the other was worth quite a bit though.  I had just made it to my 10th referral on my iluvlennys account on the day I got frozen.  I never got to see the brush for it.

Am I getting ahead of myself again?  Well, anyways after they had reset the scores I managed to get a 3rd place trophy for tug-o-war while the score were still low.

When the new Powerpuff Girls game comes to Neopets I have a very hard time playing it at first as it was hard to get a good handle on the game.  I really want a trophy for the game.  I just love Powerpuff Girls and it would be oh so cool to have a trophy for that game, even if they don't have a picture for the trophy.  it takes a little while for me to get the hang of it but I eventually do.  The first big try I manage to get just below trophy ranking.  I couldn't tell my score but hoped it would get a trophy.  it took a long time to get that far too.  I wrote down the level i got and the score I recieved.  Then I do some other calculations too.  Figuring out how much points for what, etc.  I predicted that I would for sure get a trophy for getting to level 40 will ensure a trophy.  I make it to level 39 I think it was after about 3.5 hours nonstop and I am getting really tired.  I managed to get 2nd place and get a champion trophy.  I was soooo happy to have a cool new trophy and to once again be on a high score table.

Oh I somehow didn't metion my beating neoquest which was prior to that.  That game took me over 100 hours to win and all I got was a third place trophy.  Thats it. No items and no neopoints.  I felt kind of ripped off until I win  big time on fruit machine right afterward.
(I went out of my way to get more experience points to get on the high score list, since i had already invested so much time into the game)

Ok so back to PPG, so now I am on the list, and damned proud of myself.

 WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY TROPHY???!!?!??!?!?!?!

Well anyways you can probably imagine how this made me felt to have my trophy taken away like that.  So, anyways..

I am looking to get on more lists.  I look through em to see what I might have the best shot of getting.  I happen to come across Ice Caves Puzzle.  There are a few people on the list all with very low scores.  Something is strange here.  I try to play the game but it won't let me send my score.  It takes me a little while before i figure it out.  I compare that URL to the URL of one of the flash 6 games.  I decide, now what if I just changed the game number on the flash 6 URL to the game number for ice caves.  I try it.  It loads with the flash 6 scoring system and I am so happy cuz I know that has got to be how they did it.  They probably figured out the URL to the new game just like I did.  I can easily beat their scores.  New Champion Trophy for ice caves.  :-D  I feel better now after having lost my PPG trophy.

Of course being the nice person I am I reply to peoples email.  I mean people are asking me about how to get the score to send and i tell them.  I'm not sure I want to cuz I am afraid they might beat my score and I like being number one on the list and getting the 750NP daily.  One morning I notice that I didn't get any NP and I wonder what the hell happened.  I look and Someone apparently beat my score 17 times on different accounts to knock me so i was just barely out of range.  I am flaming pissed.  I feel like neomailing the staff but I don't know whether that would be good or not and besides, my old keyboard had a lot of keys fucked up then so it was hard to type anything till I got the new board.  And besides, they don't ever write back anyways, at least not to me.

 I had attempted a website review for Neopets and told them how cool I thought their site was but that I had trouble with certain things that I thought they could maybe fix.  It took me a long time to write it out and it was a huge letter trying to tell them what they could improve on some things and letting them know i wasn't trying to offend them by the review and hoped they would find it useful.  They do not reply to it.  The first time i send it i don't even get the autoreply.  I think they either fixed or got rid of most of whatever I mentioned.  Not a thank you or anything.  I was just trying to help them to know how to make Neopets even cooler.

So instead of telling the staff about the person doing that.  (Some of the accounts were obviously the same person and the others I had good reason to suspect, especially since at this point only one person had asked me how)  I figure out how to do better on ice caves, so that my score can be the highest once again.

How could they do such a thing?  They didn't have any problems getting away with it.  I figure the damage has already been done.  No need for them to make all those points a day like that.  So I do it on a few other accounts to balance them out.  And hell, might as well tell others who ask about how to do it too.  That person is currently in 1st place on the game.  (as I type this)  I was in 1st place with the same score before I got frozen because i had gotten the score first.  The high score tables are first come first serve.  This mean you won't get ahead of someone on a list unless you beat their score, not simply tie it.

It is some time before i get frozen.  The person who got on with 17 accounts is still not frozen.  They however got most of their accounts knocked out of NP range by now.

More new games come out.  Extreme Herder which has  quite a good payout in NP and Math Nightmare.  On math nightmare I copied the URL from one browser into another and played it for a long time and clicked to send score (which would be enough to get trophy) and it says I am not logged in.  I sure to hell am logged in.  I am really pissed so I decide to make up for it by putting another account on ice caves list (hereisthemaninblack)  I really do want the trophy for math nightmare so the next night I try again.  This time clicking the link in the same browser to the game and test it to make sure it will send score this time and it does so I go at it again.  This time finding a strategy that will get me more points cuz I need more points for this night to get on than for the previous night.  it takes over 3 hours to get the score.  *_*  But I get the trophy.

I have worked very hard to get to where I am at Neopets by this time.  Keeping up my shop is a big task and to stay on top of everything, neomails, MPCs, maybe have an offline life too..  *_*

I continue to go about my regular business.  By July making new accounts has become almost a daily routine.  No harm has come from it.  It is just something I have come used to doing.  I look on the list for Nimmo's Pond and think that there is a chance i might be able to get on the list for that game. (The NP payout on that game is very poor)  I manage a really kick ass score (not high enough to be in trophy range but nonetheless awesome as hell.  I click to send the score and it says I am not logged into Neopets.  Deja vú?  Not again.  I am pissed off about this cuz I did not log off.  Unfortunately I had automatically been logged out of Neopets when they froze my account whilst I was playing Nimmo's Pond.

So anyways thats about the end of how it goes up to now.  I believe that they might have frozen me from referral program abuse.  That is one of the reasons they mentioned as being a possible reason for getting frozen when i tried to log in and they said my account was frozen (along with other reasons, most of which did not apply to me).  I feel this is unfair because there are big time offenders who get away with it.  I hadn't even reached 50 accounts i don't think.  That is next to nothing compared to almost 8000 or even 1 or 2 K

If the staff are all about being fair and thinking it is not fair to do that kind of thing I think that the top referral list is where they should start laying down the law.

Send people a message that it is not a good idea to make up accounts because it is punished.

The way they have it makes it look like go ahead why not make up accounts, these people did it, got away with it, and hell, are even being glorified with ribbons and medals for doing it

I honestly am taking it personally.  What, they will let the people they like get away with it and then punish those whom they dislike who do it?  I mean shit, I even emailed them about it, trying not to be rude or anything.

I was thinking about the Math nightmare game and was getting upset when i realize I really am not logged in cuz I have been logged out because all of a sudden now my account is frozen.

I don't have to worry about being upset now for we are dealing with a much greater force here now.  *LOL*

I am not blocked from neopets so i was able to log in one of my worthless accounts and view what damage had been done.

It was extremely extensive.  I had more than one account on the high score list for ice caves puzzle.  I didn't see why not since someone else had knocked everyone previously in trophy ranking off with their 17 accounts  *_* (including myself) So hell, this is when I decide to tell some people the link to the new game that sends score plus knock some of that persons accounts off since they had already knocked everyone else off so the damage had already been done.  no need for them to be profiting 17 times!!!!

I just viewed the high score table for the referral program at neopets.  They have almost 8000 Referrals!!!!

So they know almost 8000 people is this right?  I doubt I even know 1000 people let alone to refer them all to neopets.  Come on now.  What the fuck?  ok, now to confirm this I clicked to view profiles on some of these "top referrers" and i found something that i was not in the least bit surprised to find.  Proof of them referring themselves to neopets.  Go see for yourself:

Of course I emailed them but had a feeling I'd get no reply.  Am I psychic?  Um, well, actually no.  i didn't need  to be psychic to know that i'd get no reply.  (not even an autoreply)

Why would they come after me?  I mean isn't it obvious that the place to look for the big time referral scammers is in the high score list for it?

I have worked my ass off to get where  i had gotten before i got my accounts frozen.  Damned hard.  Countless hours, days, even weeks.  The neoquest trophy alone represents at least 100 hours i would think just in itself let alone the other trophies.

NOT EVERYTHING IS FAIR AT NEOPETS- I know this is true BUT THIS IS REDICULOUS.

Do you want some examples?

I got the exact same score as someone on tug-o-war only a few days later.  They have a 2nd place trophy for the game while I have a 3rd place trophy.  Today the score wouldn't even come close to getting a trophy.  Is that fair?

I know they like to have it competitive there, and this can encourage some people to hack their games and cheat.  This is not fair to people like me who spend more than 3 hours playing a game like Math nightmare to get the score I got.  They do get some of them but some of the cheaters i see that are obvious stay on for ages.

Another thing, these games can play differently for some people and differently for others partly cuz of their computer and stuff which can give some people advantages while others disadvantages.  For me i seem to have an advantage on some games involving speed cuz I think my computer runs some of the games slower than other computers run the games for others.  This can give me an advantage on such games as Meerca Chase, Ice Cream Factory, Math Nightmare, etc.

Is that fair?  Should some people have an advantage like that and be rewarded while those who have the disadvantage be punished when given the advantage the others have they would surpass them?

What is with the 1000NP cutoff, to punish those who should go beyond by not giving them any additional points for continuing play?

I can think of more but what I am talking about here goes a lot deeper than just your common unfairness.

This morning I was a legend at neopets and by evening I seem to have turned into nothing.  As if I don't even exist...

Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed neopets a lot over the past over year and a month.  It is very entertaining.  So much to do, so very addictive.

There are some other stories of experiences from other users I've been told, that the Neopets Lover might rather not to know about.  And they told me so i am referring to myself as Neopets Lover.  I could rant on negatives about neopets.  I could rant about positives at neopets.  This incident makes me tend to feel on ranting towards the negative....

Another thing that bothers me.  Why just now are they doing this?  I had been making accounts for more than 2 months I think.  They seem to be so smart as to know just which ones are mine so if they know  so much about this then why didn't they strike when I first started doing it?  And i know there are LOTS of people who have multiple accounts too.  If they doin it and not gettin in trouble then why not do it too?  Added bonus, get more members  for my guild too since it is so hard to talk people into joining it otherwise...
 

I wanted to be the best I could be at neopets.   So I gave it my best.  I came so far along the way only to have it all taken away in the blink of an eye.  My clefairy Faerie gallery had many many faerie items, many extremely expensive.

So what is to come of next?

Will justice ever be served?  And who is to know  exactly what justice is for that matter anyways?

I am tired.  Why can't I fall asleep?

So tell me, what do you think?  Is this punishment fair?  Should I have had EVERYTHING I had worked for at neopets of any value taken away from me?  Should I stay frozen forever or should they unfreeze me?  Please let me know your thoughts.  Feel free to let Neopets know your thoughts too, just don't expect a reply from them, at least not anytime too soon.  You can surely expect a reply from me.
